97 4Runner Build - new project

I'm sorry, those welds look horrible. I don't believe you had your panhard mounts reinforced; if anything, they are weakened. It looks like you guys left the ABS line near the weld too. And look! There's a hole blown in the metal. Look how close that gap is to the bolt hole. I wouldn't be surprised if you had problems with that down the line.
Proper reinforcing involves gussets and cleaning the metal around the weld.
What made you decide to reinforce the mounts? I'm still running stock mounts and so do lots of people without any issues.

You must have skipped page 2... It's almost rusted OFF. The welds will be good enough to hold it and prevent it from even holding the bar.

Maybe reinforced was the wrong word. More like 'better than it was'.

I did miss that, however it should have been done using a filler piece welded in, instead of putting insane amounts of heat into an already weakened area because it looks like all that was done was weld metal shoved into a gap.
I do recommend cutting it all out, and making a new mount out of new metal. This is a great opportunity to do a panhard lift on the axle, which many recommend over a bar drop.

Here's another picture of how bad it was. Rusted and cracking.

I do plan on buying new / replacement mounting points and having them completely replaced. This is just a 'piece of mind' fix for now.

I've been noticing a noise coming from the drivers side rear and finally had time to check it out this weekend.

Noise is coming from the top of the shock. I took a quick video and pushed down on the rear to duplicate the noise.

Thoughts?

Looks like it's loose? Is this 'normal'?

Hard to tell from my phone... But it looks like the upper mount is moving around a bit... Could just be some metal on metal contact? Hopefully you just need to tighten the upper mount.

Yep, that's what it looks like to me too. Upper mount is maybe just not tight?

Fixed all the issues after the lift - forgot to update this. Runs and drives amazing but I found a smokin' deal on a 4th gen so this one's up for sale :fish2:
