97 4runner sr5 oil leak

Well recently my runner started to leak oil, just out of the blue!(156k) I looked and it looked like it was coming from the oil filter so I changed my oil & filter and cleaned up the area by the filter.

Well that didn't help! It still looks like it is coming from that area(oil filter)? i noticed there is a sensor or something right by the oil filter(if your hand is on the filter is is a couple inches up and toward the front of the car) any one know what that is? could that be the culpert?

Oil pressure sending unit iirc.
And yea it could be.
Not real common though. Valve cover/oil cap/spilled oil is more common for that area.
Not saying it couldn't be, though.

i will insecpt the valve cover better tonight, but it was clean above the sending unit and oil filter and oil cover below them?

well it is deff the oil pressure unit. I could see it dripping from it.

does this unit just screw in? because i felt around it and it feels like it is unthread about a 1/4". can i just screw it back in? or should i pull it out and put some lock-tight on it?

It's pipe thread. Replace it, but be careful not to break it.
Yes it just screws in.
They usually leak thru the diaphram.
