So it took me a good 30min to get the center cluster finish panel off for the first time but now I'm stuck. I have a hanes man but the wiring dgm does not match. I have a black wire all by itself exiting the lower drivers corner of the unit. What is that? The wiring harness from the receiver goes about a foot to a small gray box. Security, amp, crossover? Hanes says some came factory with sub, where? It's a factory cd/tape/am/fm. I need a wiring diagram since mine does not match. Sorry I don't have pics, iPhone won't attach and home Internet is F'd right now.

Thanks, but what's the little box, black wire all by itself and do I have a sub somewhere that's blown? There's no bass to it.

When I installed mine in my '98, I had to remove the small factory amp behind the receiver. So I would assume that's what your little black box is...

What are you trying to do, install a new head unit? If so you need to get a toyota wiring harness for an aftermarket radio. You can buy one at Best Buy or I think I got mine at Wal-Mart one night. That will make this much easier. That box near the ashtray is the amplifier and you remove that. The wiring harness is connected to that. It will be obvious once you have the harness and see where the connectors work.

I would assume that your speakers are not getting bass is b/c you are not using the correct wiring harness, I might not be correct...and the factory amp is the box...
