97 map light dont work with doors?

How do you get the map lights to light up when the doors open like in my 98 Tacoma? There is no switch that allows you to turn it off lke in my Tacoma either. Is it as simple as getting a panel from the JYard that has the switch in it or as tough as running a new wire? I tried searching with no luck. Thanks and Merry Christmas!!!

The map lights don't have a switch that allows them to turn on when the doors are open. Just the standard on/off switch

Exactly, you can just turn them on and off. Seems Bass Akwards that the Tacoma would have the ability to turn on/off with the doors the 2 map lights and the standard dome but 4runner which has a much bigger interior wouldnt.

Yeah my '90 4Runner had the same switch as your Tacoma. I don't understand how that didn't carry over to the 3rd gen
