97 SR5 Runner boards and flaps

I got a 97 SR5 with the factory runner boards and flaps etc.... i dont like them and dont use them. Has anyone removed them totally and have before and after shots? im afraid theres a ton of pins or holes that would reveal themselves if i take em all off.

To me theyre just something else to tear off in the woods!

Running boards are easy to remove! Just unbolt them. It will take ten minutes. Re the flaps I just took some heavy duty kitchen shears and trimmed off the bottom 4 inches of black rubber off of them. Has worked great so far.

Thanks! do you have any pictures of the mod you did? Also i see youre running the 882/890 sus lift.... did you have to change your shocks for them? im typically a jeep guy and dont know alot about 4runner suspension lifts.

look through my pic album, you will see before and after shots, no pin holes nothing, just take them off you wont regret it

Only the Limited/Sport flares have holes behind them (as well as the body cladding on the Limiteds). The running boards don't have any exposed holes on the body and neither do the SR5 flares/mudflaps.

While you're at it, take a picture of your 4Runner to use as your avatar and ditch the picture of the Heep. :bigok:

BigFish... i was just looking at your build thread lol. Ill take some pics today or tomorrow and get it on there. I sunk that jeep and had 2 swapped 350's pull me out and pulled the plugs fired er up and put the plugs back in and WHAM! started right up! haha

Update... i finally took the boards off and all the flares and trim. and i have to say... i freakin love it now! Looks way better, not cheap like it did before. And theres more tire clearance (or appears to be). I just wish i would have done it sooner. lol Now i have them for sale if anyone wants em! ill post pics later.
