97 T4R missing? Hesitation? Help

I have a 1997 T4R Auto 4x4 that has 130,000 miles on it. It has been a great vehicle. Recently when driving at say 50 mph and kindly coasting then give it little gas it has a hesitation or jerk to it. I've tried to figure if it was the engine or maybe the transmission. I am hoping maybe someone else may have ran across this and know what may be the problem. Thanks.

wondering if you found out what was causing your problem b/c i am having a very similar one.

my 97 ltd 4wd auto feels like it hesitates as it shifts up from one gear to the next, whether at 25 mph or 55 mph or anywhere in between. at a constant speed it's fine, but when accelerating there's a somewhat slightly jerky feeling like the truck is trying to decide if it really wants to move up into the next gear before it actually shifts. how did you fix your problem?

this sounds like a dirty Mass Airflow Sensor to me. you may get a check engine light soon.

try to get some contact cleaner and you can do it yourself... see if that works.

I have tried new spark plugs, new fuel filter, cleaned throttle body, cleaned MAF sensor and still have the same problem as I started this thread with. I really appreciate all the advice. I'm about to just take it to the toyota dealership for them to fix.

PROBLEM SOLVED
turns out it was likely my worn spark plugs, but i also had the fuel filter replaced, as well as most of the other 120K maintenance recommendations that were several K overdue. runs like a champ again now....except for the new muffler i'll be needing to purchase soon...
