97 tundra trd front setup will it work? asap

so i have a chance to buy a set of 97 TRD tundra front struts and coils tonight, but when looking at the lift FAQ sticky, it says "The TRD Tundra Spring

The front spring and shock from the 2000-06 Tundra TRD can be used to lift the front of the 4Runner. The sought after coils from the Tundra are coded Yellow/Yellow and Yellow/Blue. These springs are a progressive rate coil which means that they start out soft and get stiffer as they compress. this gives the 4Runner and soft ride while still providing good handling both on and off road. These springs generally yield about 2.5" of lift. there are companies selling the Tundra spring with a Bilstein adjustable shock which can be adjusted to get more lift.

Pros: Provides a decent amount of lift, durable.
Cons: Can settle and give a harsher ride, not as adjustable as a coilover"

so whats the difference in the 97 vs. the 2000 and on? will this work? -i know in 07 they changed all together...

There was no Tundra in 97, just the T100 and the Tacoma. They are probably confusing it for a 97 Tacoma TRD.

yeah hello i should of thought a bit more on it and then it would of clicked he probably meant an 07 -which he did... -first clew was when i drove up to his house and theres a newer Tundra out front. anyhow well i picked them up -traded him a set of PIAA lights for his enduro bike(they where of no use to me). i only paid $35 for them(the PIAAs) and he was asking $100 for basically brand new TRD bilsteins with like 20k on them. so now here is my question, i know they top plate is different on the new Tundras its a 4 stud vs the 3 stud we have, can i modify my top plate to fit the 4 stud or would it be easier to modify the top plate of the 07 tundra struts to a 3 stud or should i just resell them for like $300(still a killer deal for someone who wants TRD suspension on there non TRD Tundra) and go buy what i need? what do you guys think?

sure do... posted them on CL just a bit ago asking $350 obo we shall see... but if you guy think i can make them work or change out the top plate for a 3 stud one then should i keep it, and try and use them? -paint code is yellow yellow, yellow blue. and the part number on the strut is 48510-OC030

Dang dude, it's hard to say for sure but they look like they may work. Seems your 3rd gen top plate would work. Just measure it and make sure it's not too small to capture the springs and you should be good to go.
2 things I would be concerned with is how much lift you would get and how stiff of a ride you'd get. Somebodies gota experiment right? seems like you have the perfect set

Those look like they're way too tall for a 3rd gen. I'd try to sell em, you'll make a profit either way, and order something that you know will fit.

11.5"... yeah them being too tall is my only concern. overall from the top of the top plate to the bottom is just a hair under 25.5" and from the base of the top plate to center hole on the "i" is 24". im not sure what the measurement on the 00-06 tundras is so if anyone knows that could really help out here.

Yeah, someone that has it assembled but not installed yet since the weight of the truck would affect the measurement.

Hey so I just got mine in and they are 20" from the top plate to the bottom of the shock. They are 7" from the coil perch to the bottom of the shock. Looks like you are SOL. Might as well try to sell them.

thanks man thats what i figured... glad you confirmed it, i was about to buy a new set of top plates and swap them out...
