97 V6 No Start

Just got a 97 SR5 4WD, Great condition!! Had started fine, but then started to ckick, then just rapid clicking, Tried the starter, replaced with new, Checked battery 12.4, cleaned connections. Not sure. Will check voltage at starter
RS3000? I did steam clean engine but was very careful, and it started and ran after cleaning. Any Ideas?

Not starting even after replacing the starter? Is it turning over at all, or just clicking?

Sound like a short in the battery. Even though you have 12.4 volts, it is not supplying enough amps to turn the motor over. Before ruling the battery out though, you need to check the battery terminals again. They might have corroded after the steam claening you gave it.
 
Not turning over just rapid clicking, I hooked up another good battery, same issue, cleaned terminals really good, no corrosion !!! Getting 12.2V to stater with key off, when I hit the Ign it drops to 6V though. I tried to unplugging the RS3000 module unde drvr seat, now nothing happens on ign start, all lights and power working?
 
Check all the connections to the sensors, but start with the spark plug wires and coils. Steam could have penetrated one of the connectors. Also check for loose wire connections.

IMHO, two things that should never be performed under the hood of an auto: applying belt dressing and power washing/steaming cleaning an engine. Both lead to more headaches than they are worth.

Sounds like a bad ground now. get a jumper cable and one end to the negative side of the battery and then the other end to something metal on the engine and try starting it.

Good advice. I suggest the bracket by the diagnostic plug. Also carefully examine both battery cables. If the insulation is at all funky on the outside, that is a sign there is corrosion in the cable which can be severe while barely visible. Clean and tighten grounding points at the engine and body.

I wonder who said it was a bad battery?

This is quite strange though. You said you hooked up another battery and still the same problem. Did you have two bad batteries?
 
No start

New Battery in New starter in both tested before installed. Still won't crank!
Getting voltage to stater, Cranks when jumped Still won't crank!
Checking into VP3000 system. Any ideas?

Exactly where are you putting the jumper cables? Specifically, are you connecting the negative to the battery terminal or an engine ground? If the latter, then ground cable is the problem and you should see my post above or maybe just replace it.

If you are jumping to both battery terminals and it cranks, but not with installed battery, revisit the terminals--is a bolt stripped meaning it won't get tight? Is something in between the two ends keeping them from closing tight? Clean both post and terminal again with one of those special battery brushes until inside and outside are bright, then make SURE they are tight. Also check that new battery on a real load tester. It HAS to be one of these two things, unless you are not telling us something.

replace your battery cables and check your other grounds, like from the block to the frame and the body to the frame... i bet you have some serious corrosion going on inside the insulation of of your cables... and you cant see it cause of the insulation. that kind of corrosion can kill your battery, like you said you had a bad cell... gee i wonder where that happened. but seriously yeah just put some new cables on that thing and i bet you itll start right up
