98 4runner with supercharged vs 06 stock v8 4x4 with is faster.

I would say that the v8 is going to be faster. The 05+ has the VVT-I V8 which makes like 30 more HP than the 03-04.

I think that a race between a Non VVT-I v8 and a supercharged 3rd gen would be very close.

love 3rd gen but if you're choosing between the 2 I'm going to have to agree with Steez and say that the v8 is more than likely faster and better. I would rather have the v8 than a supercharged v6 3rd gen.

^I totally agree.

I think I remember seeing numbers somewhere that the 3rd Gens are around 9 seconds 0-60 and one of the 4th Gen V8's is in the 7 second range. I'm not sure if that was VVT-I or not.

It's hard to make up for the torque of a V8, which I really like. They sound a lot better too.
