98 4runner ifs problems

Just got this in a trade
1998 4runner
130,000 miles.
3.4/ 5 speed
Some honky ass lift
Had some home built bumper on it that was making it over heat because no air flow

Dumbass owned but I see potention in her, already have an arb and s/c for it.

But..Why are my tires so cambured in? Wondering if this is something others have dealt with and maybe have a solutution to fixing it. My alignment guy has gone through everything in the front end and even hes stumped.

Do I go straight to torching it off?

how does it drive?

id say take it to someone else if "your alignment guy" cant figure it out... you only have 6 real adjustments points on these. how are the bushings in the front ie UCA and LCA bushings? steering rack? you could start by replacing all of those with either toyota OE bushings from the dealer(dont go aftermarket like moog or beck arnley) or go with a polyurethane bushing...

thats some pretty serious tire wear. and id be looking into fixing up other things and getting all the maintenance done and up to snuff before it go opening the SC can of worms... just my advice

Drives like shit. Im not familer at all with ifs but could bad bushings in the control arms really affect it this drasticly? Everything is set aside. (S/c, Bumpers, Rack) Because of this issue.

I also just replaced the rack
 
yeah, i almost sold my rig this time last year after dumping over $1500 into the front end, went through are replaced everything but the upper control arms and upper ball joints... thought i would save a few $$ and buy some random generic lower control arms with bushings in them... yeah big mistake. cost me another couple hundred in several shops taking a look at it, and the time for me to tear it all apart again and put some good quality poly bushings in it(less than $60 for whiteline poly bushings) and that fixed the problem.

-what rack did you get? is it a remaned or new rack?

As already mentioned, he's not an "alignment guy". It's time to find a Mechanic that knows what they are doing.

I just don't understand how these cretins get and keep a job, that they obviously are not qualified to do.

That's racist.

Get a new alignment person for sure... one that is not going to be perplexed by the issue if they have the ability to see. If your old one is blind... then they may have an excuse... in which case would their automotive shop happen to have a barber pole out front, just without the blue stripe?

As stated already. I'm sure these two things go hand in hand. To be honest, from the looks of your alignment cams. I don't think they've been touched in a while. Unless your front end is seriously messed up, those dots should be close to the same spot on both sides. I bet the guy that did you alignment couldn't get the cams to move, and just told you he aligned it. It doesn't look like you have enough lift to cause any kind of alignment issues.

Below is a picture of mine the day after I got it aligned. A other vehicle looks the same as well.
