First of all...great forum, I've learned so much already.

Okay, I'm the proud owner of a 98 4Runner with a whopping 178,400 on it. Still runs 'good'. I'm gonna try the throttle cleaning to loosen up the gas pedal - that's only been bugging me for about 3 years now.

My question is...my 4Runner appears to have 'power' locks but didn't come with a keyfob - can I get a keyfob cheaply that will work?

I've been opening doors manually all along. The reason I say it appears to have power is that I can open all the doors with the key from either front doors (from outside the car).

Please let me know.

I know for sure you can use any remote from a 96-98 and be able to use it on your 4R, but I'm not sure how to program it. When I had my Maxima, I know it was very easy to program so it shouldn't be difficult for thr 4R.

Just because you have power door locks, doesn't mean you have the remote door feature. I am in the same boat. Your best bet to get that feature is to buy an aftermarket system like the Commando 870 (I think that's the model #) and install it yourself. It's relatively cheap.
