98 4runner remote/keyfob

I just picked up a 98 runner yesterday and it came with a 2 button keyfob. I did some reading and reprogramed it and it still will not lock and unlock to doors. Does this type of remote have the capability to unlock the doors remotely ? Thanks in advance !

Yes, it has the capability. Mine would lock with one tap of the top button and unlock with another tap. It would set the alarm off if you held the top button down too. Never did get that bottom button to do anything.

This one will set the alarm off if I hold the top button, but will not unlock and lock the doors. I reset it by holding the green button on the unit underneath the drivers seat. Is there something else I need to do to get this to work on the doors ?

The bottom button is for if you owned two toyota's you could have one key fob to lock/unlock both cars.

durrell that is what I followed also, like I said I am pretty sure it is programmed for the alarm feature but will not lock/unlock the doors. Just wondering if there is another step to get it to work on the doors ?

Is it a Silencer Alarm? That's what the dealership installed back on mine in 97'. What a POS.

It's the RS3000, just wish I could figure this out to lock/unlock the doors ?
