But it doesnt have a locker & is all electronic. Stay with the 99-00, for j-shifter, RR diff lock & old brake system.

I haven't seen a plague of servo/electronic 4wd issues w/Toyota like I have w/others(explorers), but I do agree that that manually/mechanically engaging 4wd gives me a strong sense of reliability. I don't miss getting dirty, but I could even live with manual hubs in the name of reliability. . When you say "old brake system", I assume you mean no VSC/TRAC. I'm with you on that as well. Intellectually I know that ABS is capable of amazing things, but there are times when I at least feel like I could do better.

I was talking about the electronic brake booster on the 01-02's. They are very expensive to replace & failures are getting more common as these get older.
I'm used to the ABS. When I got mine in 99 it was my first vehicle with ABS so that's all I new for a long time. Works fine with my manual & I never had a problem with warped rotors. Now that I have a 99 Limited, this trucks rolls to fast in first gear & reverse & I can see how people wear out these brakes.
