I've got a busted headlight on my 97, where are you guys getting your 99-02 headlights from? I've checked ebay with no real luck.

Stay away from the Eagle Eye units on e-bay and aftermarket sites; the beam pattern is about as organized as Snooki's brain. Certifit has the Depo brand, which I have not tried, but people seem to like. OEM is definitely the best, but pricey.

I appreciate your Jersey Shore reference.

Give your local collision repair shop a call and ask where they get their stuff. I got a great lead on some Audi stuff doing that a year or so ago.

Certifit, or Sortafit, has not been good to me, so I am a bit biased.

Thanks for mentioning Certifit. I have never heard of them. The prices are as low as the aftermarket headlamps on eBay too. I've heard OK things about the eBay stuff too.

I am not willing to spend $100+ for an OEM headlamp. Its a freaking headlamp.... ;)

also if the 99 headlights if the plastic buckets are broken but the headlight and brackets are fine you can reuse your pre 99 stuff no prob

I've purchased parts from Certifit in PHX. Give them a call ahead of time, they'll pull the part and have it waiting when you arrive. You can inspect it before you buy, very easy process.

Their locaction is easy enough to find and not to far from Luke AFB. Here's their local addy and ph#.

Thank you for your service to our country.

Hope this helps.......Regards 8sm

Thanks for the info, and thanks for the appreciation.

question...

i found a set of 99-02' OEM headlights for sale but the guy wants to keep the "buckets" which i think means the headlight housings (black frame piece behind the headlight that bolts the assembly to the truck).

do you guys know if the 99-02' headlight is a direct fit into a housing for a 98'?

they'll fit. I swapped out my 98 black frame thingy lol onto the 99 headlights I got. reason is cause the screw holes from the black frame thingy from the 99 headlights wouldn't line up to where you mount the headlights on the 98. if that makes sense.

so to do the 99-02 headlight swap you're saying i'd need to re-use the housing from my 98' anyway? interesting, i thought the entire thing was plug and play, ie, literally pull the whole assembly (housing and all) from a 99-02' and bolt in?

I thought the same thing unless I was doing it wrong. Went to install the 99-02 headlights and the screw holes wouldn't line up with the black housing, so I swapped them and they bolted right in.

good deal, i won't be able to test the 99-02' housing since it wont be coming with my lights but appreciate the heads up. any other tips for swapping out the lens & housing from the 99-02' onto our 96-98' housing?

I bought both headlights for $88 dollars shipped from amazon! Just completed my second retrofit and the quality is good! I would definitely swap the black adjuster housing from the originals as the aftermarket ones were very poor quality.
