99-02 without fog lights

I've got a 2000 with out fog lights and it just has the cut outs where the other models would have the fog lights. I found a set of factory replacements on amazon and wanted to see if anyone has tried these.

Are these worth the cash or upgrade to hella micros?
Also, can these bulbs be changed out for brighter ones or hid?

I would would look into the Hella Micro DE's. They will probably run you the same price. It would be nice if you could find the bracket for it so you wouldn't have to fabricate anything. I found mine made for the 4runner on ebay for around $160 shipped

So I did a little more research, looks like you can upgrade bulbs and do an hid kit so,that's good. However, a lot of people complain about water getting in the lenses and not being protected against the elements. Not sure if these are a good option then since I live in Oregon and it always rains.

So does anyone know of where to find just the mounting bracket for the micros?
If not, going with the ones in the link might be my better option.

The factory ones are difficult to put HIDs in. IIRC, they work with a light facing at a mirror in the housing and reflect light off of them. You're way better off with the micro de's. There should be enough threads out there to get you the info you need with mounting them. Here's a start

Hella stopped producing the 4Runner-specific kit,I emailed one Hella dealer and they couldn't get the brackets. I ended up finding a specific kit on ebay.

And as for the water issue,it's due to the short breather tubes on them. Here's a "tube mod" thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/87159-those-hella-micro-des-fogging.html although I suggest putting the hose higher. I drove through some flooded roads recently and lost one light due to it,I'll do the tube mod when I replace the bulbs with a yellow HID kit.

It's the way the bulbs are mounted on factory lights that make installing difficult. H3 HID bulbs are usually longer than regular halogen H3's,and factory fogs mount the bulbs from the bottom insead of the rear,so there's no room.
