I have a 99 4Runner that doesn't start the first time all the time. I will turn the key and get nothing, sometimes 3 to 5 times, others more like a dozen....SO FAR it eventually turns over and starts and runs fine once it starts. I have replaced the battery because of course that is what I thought it was. And once I replaced it the issue went away for a couple of months. But is now back again and becoming more frequent. Any thoughts on what I can easily check? I am not a mechanic by any means but I have fixed a few things thanks to the videos and how to do's. Thanks in advance for any help!

5 speed or AT? If AT, google Neutral Safety Switch 3rd Gen 4Runner...contacts may need to be cleaned. There are several write-ups out there to walk you through how to do it.
I found a pretty good (or I think good) how to on cleaning the NSS, however I am still having trouble finding it on my vehicle.

It is on the passenger side of the transmission. Almost even with the catalytic converter.
