99 4runner oem cd

Well, this is follow up from my last topic i made awhile back. I found a original cd player to replace my broken one.

My question is how can i change it out ?
I took the center panel off and there are these 4 screws that holds the cd/radio. Do I take the 4 screws apart and whole cd/radio comes out ? or is there something else to it? I have the Haynes 4runner menu but it doesn't have a section for taking the radio/ cd apart.

Has anyone changed it out before? If so, can you give me some help on it.

if you got that far then why did you stop? If you see the four screws then take them out the whole thing slides out. You don't need a manual. Just common sense.

Exactly. You made it that far and did not trying removing the 4 screws?

Remove them and the radio slides out.

Got a question,
There are these wires in the back of the cd player, all I have to do is plug the new ones in and I be good to go correct?
Is there some else to it?

If I'm wrong, can someone correct me?

If all I'm doing is taking out an OEM radio and putting another OEM radio in that's EXACTLY THE SAME, why would I need to do anything else? C'mon, man. I know you're smarter than that. You're on the internet for pete's sake!

Unplug and remove your existing OEM HU and compare the backside of it to your OEM replacement one. If everything looks the same on both, then your existing wires should plug right in.

Don't be afraid to take risks with this stuff...it's not rocket science.

Before changing the oil, I decided to take some risk with the radio. I did it. I took the 4 screws that was holding the radio/ cd and it was success. All I need is to order the cd and I be good to go.

If all of you don't mind, I might have some questions and I was wondering if all of you can give me some answers or pointers to it.

1. Used OEM cost 10x less.
2. Not everyone cares too much about car audio.
3. Easy installation.
4. Some just want the stock look (including me. Unless I get a D3, I'm just going to stick to my stock HU).
5. Lastly, who cares? It's his car, let him do what he wants. People do much dumber things to their cars than *gasp* replacing a factory HU with a factory HU.

I don't think he bought a new oem HU...his first post said he found an original. New OEM HUs are around $400-700. Doubt he went that route.

As far as replacing the brokend oem one with another oem one, I've done the same thing. Yeah, it might sound crazy to some, but personally, it's a good theft deterant for me. Majority of theives don't want an oem HU

Second, I like the "look" of a stock HU. So many aftermarket HUs look like crap installed in the dash. Very obvious they are aftermarket.

I personally like the look of the oem hu.
The one I installed was I used one from another 4runner. It cost around 140 without shipping and it comes with a 30 day warranty so yeah. I went for the used oem hu instead of a new one.

I gave a local dealer a call and is 300 for a brand new cd player.

Yesterday, it finally came in and I went out and changed it out. Is so great to have the cd player back.
