awesome!! thats alot more pricey than what i thought but... seems pretty decent i guess.... i was wondering... what woould happen if i just cut the shifter down to where i wanted it? im not gunna do it, i was just wondering if this would give the same/ close effect...... but cool, thanks for the link.. ill have to save that!

I have the URD SS in my 97, it shortens the throw and works quite well. The kit is well engineered with machined parts which mount to the transmission. There is a spacer which replaces the stock one and is considerable larger (height/taller); I'm not certain of its function yet when combined with the other parts the results are a much tighter throw.

I'm not certain if cutting down the shifter will accomplish the same results. It may however. conflict with the URD kit should you decide to go that route after you have cut the shifter.

Something to consider, hope this helps........

so the shifter height is still the same after installing this? i was looking at some youtube vids online of it and some kits for the cars come with a new, shorter shaft.... thats what i was kinda hoping for.... im tired or jamming my elbow into the console when i go to second lol....

What I ment by the throw is " tighter", IMO, lets say, if my stock 1st to 2nd pull or throw was 2inches it is now, 1/2 inch. Much shorter and in comparison much improved or stock.

My only suggestion and one I'm about to undertake, is replacing the bushing with a new one. I some what damaged the old bushing taking it off/on. I do feel it when going into 1st gear, I have to push on the shifter alittle harder to get it to slip into gear. At first I thought it was my clutch, but I was told by my yota mechanic the clutch is good and its the bushing if I had indeed marred it.

yeah, i understand that the throw is alot less distance traveled.... but, i would like to make it a little shorter as well....

oh yeah.... could i just buy "any" shifter stick... for instance a shorter one and install it, or does it have to be for a 99 4runner, ot just for a toyota truck, or what lol.... not much of a gear head here..... and i would like to get it a bit shorter and do the short shifter, but i dont really wanna cut my shaft down.....

Can't remember how the 4Runner is but on my previous car, the shifter height was perfect for me to hold the shifter and have my elbow on the armrest. I had a Mazdaspeed short throw shifter (so it was stock height but shorter throw) and my friend with the same car got a different short shifter that was a lower height as well. I found his too uncomfortable as I'd keep hitting my elbow against the arm rest cause I had to reach lower for the shifter.

You might want to keep that in mind. However, on my Accord, I found it much more comfortable with a shorter height shifter though, so I guess it depends on the vehicle. I know that I was very comfortable with the shifter height on the 4Runners that I drove.
