my 99 4runner has developed a short squeak when I start it. It only does it after it has been sitting for atleast a few hours. It goes away after just a second on two.
I just recently had all the belts replaced.
any ideas?

could be a belt that is too loose.

get some belt dressing and squirt one at a time.

one you notice it go away, youve found your problem.

I just bought a 4X2 V6 '99 and it has exactly what you are talking about. A split second "shreeek" right when you start a cold motor. Did you find the problem or try the dressing?

Since I have no history it could be anything. Sounds like a belt slip but at first I thought it to be a pully. Happens mostly when very cold.... after like 8+ hours....after work or overnight etc

I just had my toyota dealership replace all my belts just a couple weeks ago.
I might take it back and just let them check everything.
But I have not yet tried any kind of spray on the belts yet.

Not sure if this is true or not. I heard u put the belt dressing it will stop the squealing but once it wears off it will cause the belts to squeal worse. So it may cause you to have to apply it every day. Again, this is what i heard. I would just reach in and check each belt for tension.

yea that belt dressing is a temp fix like as in you want to sell it to someone, I would just take it back to dealer and have them re tighten the belts should be fast fix....its not that uncommon for the belt to stretch a little bit after first installing it which would cause it to become loose and squeel
