99 4runner supercharged (high lander edition)

Well, I came across to this tonight while surfing the web.

IS A 99 4Runner supercharged high lander edition with a 2.5 in lift ,flow master exhaust for $8995 and is a little over 132k miles.

Is an astonishing price for a super charged 4runner, this is what he has done so far.

New tires, starter, spark plugs with new wires, and new rear axle seals.

I have my 4runner but with this great deal.

I don't know guys, should i take the plunge and buy another one?

anything else i need to look for?

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal. If I had something like that offered to me, it would be hard not to jump on it and get another 4runner, especially if it is SUPERCHARGED!!! Mmm, sweet...

I would certainly be a bit suspicious of the price. Look it over real well and make sure it hasn't been in an accident, flooded, or even burned. If you don't feel like you can make that judgement call (or don't know what to look for), take it to a competent mechanic and have it inspected.

It sounds like the previous owner likely took care of it for the most part (rear axle seals changed), but make sure the oil and other fluids have been changed regularly. See if the timing belt has been done yet (not a real big deal if it hasn't, just more money you'll be spending down the road).

be careful what you wish for....

I would be a little leery of a used supercharged version. Sorry to rain on the parade....

If the necessary fuel and transmission upgrades have not been done, then expensive detonation or destruction could potentially follow.

I am no expert, I just read about these things- I believe there is a 7th injector setup that is needed and additional fuel flow to feed that extra injector. Without that I believe the motor runs "lean" all the time and that leads to valve trouble or pistons or some such engine internal.

I would get the opinion of one of us that has experience with this
very quick vehicle. You do not mention 5 speed or auto?

btw, does anyone know if the highlander edtion comes with a moon roof?
Cause I can't really tell if he has one from the pictures(the angles of it) .

the SR was an option, not standard equip.

most, if not all Highlanders do have a sunroof.
wonder if they did the belt at 100K ?
