New guy on here...hope someone can help me. I have a '99 4Runner Limited, which I love with one exception. I get a vibration at highway speeds, usually between 65 and 75. This is troublesome, as I drive clear across the country a couple times per year.
This problem has been going on since I got the vehicle. Each time I think it's fixed, it returns! Here's the sequence...
1. Toyota blamed the tires (had Wranglers on it when I bought it).
2. Replaced the tires, even though I probably had 30,000 left on them. Replaced them with Goodyear Forteras, which were highly rated.
3. Vibration returned. Toyota rep blamed the tires. Told me NEVER use Goodyear tires (I disagree) -- so I asked them why the H they sold me a vehicle with Wranglers on it. No answer there.
4. Tire dealer replaced the Fortera tires for me FREE even though they had 20,000 miles on them.
5. Vibration returned. Toyota says it's the tires.
6. Alignment has been checked and OK by Toyota and the tire dealer.
Now, I've been rotating the tires faithfully, and am on the third set. The vibration returns no matter what tire is on what position. All tires have been balanced using every system I've ever heard of. It's visible in the steering wheel and you can feel that it is from the front. I'm about to get rid of the vehicle for this one problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
