$99 fuel injection cleaning through dealer?

I received a notice in the mail for a fuel injector cleaning service at my dealer for $99. Last April I R&R'd the t-body and ran some injector cleaner through the tank, but that was it.

I know this is a more concentrated service. Just wondering if its worth it or a waste? My truck runs good for the most part, but mileage has been suffering as of late and it idles somewhat erratic at times.

I'm also curious how the dealer does this "service". is it just another can of injector cleaner through vacuum lines and that's it? Or is it more like one of those motorvac's where they hook up a machine to your upper engine and run concentrated chemicals through it for an hour to completely clean out the carbon build up.

because i called a shop in my area that has the motorvac service and they quoted me $170 bucks! i mean thats alright but i wanna watch the whole time lol

These services are usually done through the fuel rail. They hook up a "can" of concentrated cleaner, cut off the fuel supply, and run the vehicle till the can empties. Depending on how dirty your injectors are, the results vary. I've seen it do wonders, and I've seen it do almost nothing. So, if your vehicle has idle issues, or such, maybe its worth it.

Why on earth would anyone ever do that? I'f i'm going to go through all taht effort, I'm just going to bite the ullet and replace them..

Here in Canada, a new injector costs $150. each. (thats shop cost, $220 for the customer) So, cleaning them is way, way cheaper.
