99 grille swap

i bought a 01 grille for my 99 runner, can someone tell me the trick to removing the factory grille without breaking the clips. thanks.

Look at the little clip and there are two pieces of plastic with a gap in the middle. In the gap there is a little piece of plastic that I think you push down on with flat head screw driver. I got mine off while only breaking 1 clip.

the best way is take your time and have at least one other person to help you out.

2 people are even better! while you manipulate the skinny flat tip screwdriver to release the clips tension, they pull out slightly to keep the grille from 'reclipping' back to the supports.

Once you have done it once it is so much easier the second time-and snapping it back in is so easy relative to taking it out.

Take your time and you'll not end up having to zip tie it back together but worst comes to worst that works fine too.

While you have that grille out is a great time to change out the factory radiator and prevent the dreaded strawberry milkshake-unless you have already done so. If your radiator is original it is pushing 12 years old.
