99 Limited alarm wont stop going off

I arm my alarm and after about 20 minutes it goes off for no reason. I unlock, lock and about 5-20 minutes later it goes off again. Over and over. I am googling and I am suspecting the sensor at the hood latch.

My hood latch has given me minor issues lately also. Not fully releasing and the handle in the cab staying out after a release. I hit it wd-40 and liquid wrench and fixed that. Now the the issue seems for frequent.

Is it the 'stock' alarm? The supposed SECURIKEY+ put in by Gulf States distributor eventually fails for just about everyone. The symptoms you cite are typical and most likely not the hood latch yet you can try that. Most resolve it by removing the alarm/remote start unit and putting in a replacement if you want. For the time being the alarm unit (I think) is located on the right near the firewall, anyone else know a quick way to get it to cut off while retaining the normal horn functions? :cowboy:

It's a factory alarm. No remote start. Red security LED in the dash by the rear window roll down.

Check your door switches or dome light triggers (not sure of the technical name for them) and make sure they're not jamming.

Can I disable the alarm and just keep the keyless entry?

Anyone? I found this below but the procedure does not seen to work to put it in valet mode. Any suggestions?

So I took a chance and replaced the hood latch with sensor (part # 53510-35160) and so far so good. The alarm actually goes off now when the hood is opened. (This never worked prior).

I did find when I removed the hood latch that one of the wires going to the sensor broke right off when removed and the other was barely holding on.
