99 Limited, electronic heater issues

Have a 99 with the elctronic heater / AC controls. Just bought the truck 3 months ago, so not sure how it acts in the warmer climates. Heat comes on automatically and I cannot control it, cant turn it off, cant change the settings, cant change the temperature. If I wait awhile it will let me do some of these things and sometimes it will turn off. Then it will turn back on and same thing happens. So basically I dont have control of the temperature / settings but sometimes it does work. Took it to Toyota stealership and they said it works fine, but it dont.

Any ideas??? Not worried about cost, just want it fixed. Searched "heater" and couldnt find an answer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's because it works based on cabin temp, make sure the auto button is turned off .
turn all of the knobs all of the way up , it should kick on ,

if that don't work , lol, then you may have a problem , and some people have found work arounds , go back a few days, there was a thread here where a few members talked about it and found a way around it

A refurbished unit goes for around $ 200-300 on ebay maybe cheaper if you really look . And short of pulling it apart and soldering the whole thing your done for, no easy real fix here except to replace it.

Just play around with it longer chances are the dealership is right , think about it wouldn't they love to charge you $ 500 for the unit and $ 200 to install it?
