99 limited flares on a 96

I found a 99 Limited with good flares. I would like to put them on my 96 BUT mine does not have the square holes for the clips. Has anyone found a way around this? Will double sided tape work?

Use good quality double sided tape and you should be good. Thats what is holding my rear SR5 flares since my base didnt have the holes pre-drilled.

I used this. Pick it up at and auto parts store.

Very good thank you. I was planning on using 3M I just haven't seen them off the truck yet so wasn't sure what the back of the flare looked like for taping.
Looks like I'll have them pull them off.

The back of the flares have clip holders and of course the red, blue and yellow colored push-in clips that mates the flares onto the body of the truck, problem is is that some of the clip holders will have gaps between it's mounting surface and the trucks panel when mounted. That's due to the factory location of the holes being in different depths.

Using double-sided tape will work on some push-in clip mounts and some you will have to build a layer of to make up for the space in between. Plus the weight of the flares compared to the SR5 factory slim flares are significant.

My suggestion to you is to use some RTV sealant like a gasket maker, it has the ability to stick two things together very well, has a thick composition that can compensate for space between two objects. Also with the double-sided tape you have to be correct in mounting the flares the first time where as the RTV sealant is more forgiving and just as strong if not stronger. Just use an autobody tape to hold the flare pieces in place while waiting for the sealant to dry up.

Very good idea THANK YOU. I am going Saturday am to take one off and see what it looks like myself and go from there. He said $200. maybe I can talk him down being they won't mount as they should. LOL.

i think 200 bucks for 4 is very fair consider dealer wants 275 for just one piece, but i do live in california maybe parts are cheaper where u live
 
Ya I think it's a good price but if I can get them for less why not. LOL Also I just spent alot there buying parts to fix mine after wrecking it. LOL
Oh and also buying the front coils and struts Saturday from the 99 Limited.
