Well, a 97 bumper once fit on my 99. (talking about the center)

They do mount differently, and my 99 had the holes for a 97 bumper, but I am not sure the 97 will have the holes for the 99 bumper.

The 99 bumper mounts are longer, so see if you have an extra hole under there for a longer bracket. Pretty easy to spot if it's there.

You can always use the brackets from your current bumper if they're still in good shape.

The ends fit the same way on all years.

so any body shop will know how to mount it even with slight modifiying correct?just want to make sure before i send my truck off to the shop.I see alot of bumpers for sale listed as 96-98 and 99+ but no 96-2002 or 2000...any thoughts?

Only if the extra hole from the 99 mount is there on the 97. If not, you either need your old mount or that's it.

96-98 just mount differently.

I'd suggest doing it yourself if all you're tackling is a bumper. Save yourself the cost.

hes going to be sending me his mounts from his bumper.im going to be installing them on my 4runner now which id imagine the current mounts are pretty rusted. If they are reusable tho then they should have no problem mounting right?im literally like 2 seconds away from pulling the trigger on this bumper but i want to make sure im not wasting any time or money.

Like I said man, if you have the extra hole for mounting the 99+ mounts then you're golden. Otherwise, youd have to use your old ones.

That's all I can tell you man....

cool,im not too worried about using my mounts unless they are rusted up pretty bad,in that case can i use the mounts that hes sending me because they look to be in pretty good condition. :reddance:
