I met this guy trying to buy t4r parts and also saw that car in person. Personally I didn't really like him.
He's a backyard dismantler so it's not a t4r that he owned and cared for. He pulled that s/c from wrecked car then and slapped it on this one.

If that's your criteria then don't bother looking at my wiring. It's the one skill I've yet to learn how to do neatly. Probably because I like slack in my wires.
On the original topic, the guy is high if he thinks a salvage title vehicle with a 125k miles on it is worth $6,900.

This 4Runner was on Craigslist before I bought my '00 in August. IIRC, he was asking like $8500 for it originally.

Well it looks like he is using the relay mounting screw as the ground. Big no no, for two reasons. First because the relay is plastic, so you have to put the ring terminal under the relay, sloppy and hard to make the ring terminal contact a the screw enough to make a good ground. And secondly because the relay sits over the terminal and is plastic, it will compress and the screw will be loose and have a bad ground. Not to mention it looks sh*&)y, and like you don't know what your doing.

Not at all commenting about the posted rig for sale because I have not seen it in person but rather the comments about salvage titles in general. I never understood why people have such a negative view of them. A lot of the rigs that I see on these forums take 10x the abuse that salvage titled vehicles sustain. If you have a low mile 4runner that was maintained pretty well and then experiences a light accident....it will once again be a well maintained low mile rig once the repairs are completed in the end. I myself have purchased MANY salvage titled vehicles because I wanted nice vehicles that I couldn't afford to pay full price on. My most favorite one was my 07' Tacoma sport access cab that I bought crunched in the nose and my repairs had tighter tolerances than factory. The truck was 4 years old and after driving it for almost 2 years....I sold it for more than $8000 over what I had into it. Now the main problem to watch for is the quality of repairs but I always did my own work so no worries there but if you are looking at a vehicle that is already repaired and your not that good with a wrench....just treat it like any other vehicle purchase and have someone knowledgeable inspect it for you. Sorry to hijack the thread! Considering the crazy prices people ask for 3rd gens.....this is not a bad price at all if it is clean and done correctly

Only problem I have with salvaged titles is who knows how bad the accident. unless you really know what to look for you could get in trouble. On another subject I decided to buy Carfax to check out a couple vehicles before I bought mine. Man I cant believe how many scammers are out there. I looked at one and it had 140K, Carfax had over 300K on it. Saw accident reports om many others listed that owners withheld. Craigslist can be a shady world.

And therein lies the problem. Ultimately no matter what, a salvaged title vehicle is worth less than a clean title, so the asking price should reflect that. I spent 30 years in the autobody industry, and I too have owned many salvaged title vehicles, but I've also seen some real nightmares.
I have no problem with the "salvage" branding, but most people don't have my experience. So "most" people should have a negative view of them.
