'99 SR5 Questions

I thought mine looked great with them off too, but my new wheels are black and matched the black/chrome running boards well. Plus, the tires were wide and stuck out a bit which led to dirt being rooster tailed all over the front doors.

You should definitely tint your front windows.

yeah I know, but I don't mind. I'm not trying to look like a drug dealer with blacked out windows. I usually have the front windows rolled down anyways unless it's cold/raining.

Here's a tint related question maybe someone could help me out with so I don't have to start a new thread-

In MD the law says that your windows can't be tinted any more than 35%. Now that percentage means nothing to me but as I understand it the lower the percentage the darker the tint? What is the standard tint level on 4Runners? If I can't go darker than 35% is it worth it, will I be able to see a noticeable difference?

I believe the percentage represents the precent of light that gets through.

Yeah yeah I think that's right, I just couldn't remember what the website I looked at said.

So is the MD laws and the NC laws where I go to school require at least 35% of light to get through, will I be able to get a noticeably darker tint? Anyone have 35% tint on their runner?

And is tint one of those things that you can kinda fudge and go with say ~20% and just hope I don't get pulled over and given a ticket? Or will shops not tint any darker than they're legally allowed to.

mike- I'm not saying go super dark like 5%, just matching the back would look good.

david- Stock tint is around 25-35%. 35% will not match your stock tint though. I put 20% 3M on mine and it matched pretty well.

Most tint shops will put what ever percent you want. I would know how strict your local cops are before going too dark.

I'm not sure, I know I have a friend or two who have illegal amounts of tint on their cars. Also, the only windows regulated in CA are the front two and the windshield, the rest can be painted black for all the police care.

Here, the max tint on front windows in 30%, with no tint allowed on the windshield except for the top 4 inches (as a sun visor of sorts).

the stock tint on my 98 is probably like 50% or something. if anything I'd just match it to that and leave it be.
