99 tall limited on 285/75r16

I know there are many threads pertaining to lifting a 3rd gen and wheel/tire fitment, but I have a few vehicle specific questions.

Through researching this forum I have determined that my 99 limited 4x4 has the tall springs. As I have heard the tall springs are 1" taller than standard, would that mean that a 2" lift on mine would make it like a 3" lift on a non tall spring equipped 4runner? Also, I am pretty set on nitto terra grappler a/t's on 285/75r16's for this build, so what is the minimum lift required to clear a 32.7" tire on a "tall" model?

I have considered the OME 3" lift, rough country 3", or a 2.5" daystar kit all with the 1" diff drop.

Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!

To answer your questions, yes and no. Most 99 Limiteds don't have the tall springs, that was for Highlanders. Easiest way to find out for sure is look at the paint dots on your front springs.

You can run 285s with no lift, but I wouldn't recommend it since you have a limited...more body panels to rub. I would go with a 3" lift just to keep body mods to a miniumum.

If it were me, I'd do tundra coils with 5100 bilsteins up front, and OME 890s with either Bilstein orRough Country's out back...or even LC OEM Tokicos. It all depends on how much you want to spend.

And diff drops are debatable. Some say yes, some no. I don't have one and I've been fine with 3" up front.

Thanks for the info, I have blue/yellow and pink/yellow in the front and I think it was red/yellow in the rear, I matched it to the tall spring color codes in a different thread.

I don't plan on doing much off road with it just a few trips a year up a very mild trial to a secluded cabin in the Carolina's and stuff like that. I made it in my stock 2wd Cherokee just fine last time. I like the idea of OEM parts like tundra coils and bilsteins but I'm also not looking to spend a fortune. My main goal is to just be able to clear the 285's and have mild off road ability.

Would the daystar 2.5 and tall spring combo provide decent clearance?

What is your goal for the truck? If you plan too offroad on your 285's you need too get the 3" lift and most likely will need to get rims with the right offset or front spacers to clear the tires.

I recommend going with the spring lift. Spacer lifts will cause stress on the front cv's and ball joints which can cause a failure resulting in your tire falling off.

Diff drop is easy, drop skid plate, two bolts, install new bolts, bolt back up.

I don't plan to actually wheel it, basically the toughest terrain it will see is stuff like a rough/steep gravel trail up to the cabin, not a whole lot of flex or anything.

I would use it for daily driving most of the time but I don't want it to be worse than it is stock off road.

Keep in mind I've been building street trucks and muscle cars until now so I'm new to this whole lifting thing. Is this something I would be able to order and pretty much bolt on with stock height shocks?
3" Lift Kit with front and rear OME coils

Kredence, nice truck! I want mine to have the same stance, if you dont mind me asking how much did the total lift run you and did you have to change your brake lines or do anything else due to the additional height?
