I haven't posted in a while, but i've been surfin still. But, my friend has a 06 2wd v6 and i'm with my 99 2wd v6. His t4r feel a whole lot quicker than mine. I know its a bigger engine, but is it really significant difference from the 3rd gen to 4th gen?

To answer that question just look at the simple numbers. 3.4L is rated at about 183hp and the newer 4.0L is rated at 240hp not to mention beter torque numbers.

There's over a second and a half diff in the 1/4 mile and I've driven a couple of 4th gen V6s and 1 V8 and both are significantly quicker than my 3rd gen.

I prefer the looks of the 3rd Gen and the power of the 4th Gen V8 (although it is still kinda small for a V8).

But yeah, your friends 4th Gen is a good bit faster.

Just install a TRD supercharger and you'll keep right up with the 4th Gen's. I really miss my supercharged 4Runner every now and then.

That's what irks me. Even though the 3.4L is a great engine and very reliable. The 4.0L is that much better in power, I would'nt say it's better to work on vs the 3.4L but well see how it is as time goes on.

The 4.0L in stock form still may have the upper hand in a race vs the 3.4L S/C'd.

No, the 4.0L won't be faster than a SC 3.4L. My friend has a 4th Gen and it would keep up initially, but once in the upper RPM range, the SC 3.4 would pull away. I loved hearing that whine.

Ya, your crazy. My 3.4l bored out to 3.8l is N/A and it keeps up with the 4.7 V8. Once I get my S/C it'll be game over. And even before I had all the work done to my engine, with intake, exhaust and an electric fan I could keep up with (not beat) the 4.0L .

What are the details about your boring? What kind of pistons did you use etc.... Never heard of someone doing this to a 3.4L I am intrigued....

Sorry, I am still hard pressed to believe you beat a 4.7, I am not saying that you're lying but some proof of that would be nice.:)

He spend a good bit of money doing all that work.

It is legit too, he's posted some videos and has other people on here to back him up.
