that's one lucky dude

wow I hope he can fully appreciate the fine care you took in upgrading your ride. He better. Make sure he comes on over here so we can give him some crap...

Sad to lose you from the Runner brethren yet eager to see your work on the Tundra line.

You have always been a huge help to me personally and sniff sniff I am getting a bit choked up:crybaby:

awaiting details on the new to you ride and of course photos to follow. Best of luck with the Tundra you find.

And much more help I will be ron. lol

I will probably be getting a 00-03. Something I can pay cash for. I am looking at an 02 trd limited tonite. He only wants 9500 for it. We will see how well its been maintained

I wouldnt. I wouldn't settle for anything less than the 03. The 03 and up of course had a revised transmission as the 00-02 transmissions fail/slip yada yada.

Also try to stay with the TRD editions they tend to ride better IMO then non TRD trucks because of the shock and spring combo.
If you can get an 04 for around 10k which you can just gotta be patient that would honestly be the best bet as they came with VVT-i and 276hp iirc.

00-03 Tundra means that you will need to do the Tundra brake upgrade too? Or was that a TSB resolved issue?

That's my favorite generation Tundra, it looks great and has the full size look without the unnecessary bulk of newer gen Tundras. Good luck with the hunt!

it was a tsb but they only will do it for you for the first 50K on the truck, my dad just bought an 03 tundra limited and i told him about the brake tsb when he tried to take it to toyota they turned him away saying it wasn't covered anymore.

he's owned the truck for 6 months

If it's an 03 it should've came with the 13wl's from the factory

If I were you, I'd get the 05+. More power (271hp vs 230), more gears (5spd vs 4spd), better fuel economy and you can still get them cheap. It makes sense in the long run and you'll feel better about your choice. One way to tell a 05 vs 04 is the headlights, tailights and side marker.

If you get the double cab, which I recommend, the headlight and corner markers of the 04 and older look like this:

the 05+ have a tear drop light towards the grille

The access and regular cabs had a portruding reflective lens on the corner lights and the new 05+ have a better looking side marker with the tear drop in the headlight like the double cab and sequoia.
