A/C backlight problems

I had an aftermarket radio installed in my '97 4runner a few weeks ago and ever since then when I turn on my headlights or accessory lights, the backlight behind the A/C control panel area goes on and off intermittently. Sometimes it even comes on or off when I touch one of the A/C slider controls.

It's a pain for me to take the car back to the stereo shop to have this fixed so I was wondering if anyone had some tips for me about what might be the problem and how I might be able to fix it.

I don't know what the problem is with it.

I have learned to live with.
If the light is off, I just bang the dash and Viola it's on.

When I was running my wire for my iPod I played around with that bulb and it seems for some reason to be the wires right to the bulb.

I am going to try to follow them one day and see where they run and how to fix it...

If a shop did it, I'd do my best to get back there and make them fix it, since they broke it.

I don't know how much of it is the shops fault though.

I have read even from people who have installed the after market head unit themselves that they have back light issues...

Working in a shop myself, best to atleast call them, tell them about it, and make an appt to go back, if you go in there, mess with it, and it still doesnt work, then not only are you stuck with it, but they wont be able to tell if you did it, or they did...

Let as few hands touch it as possible, let the people responsibile fix it, if its a reputable shop, they will..
