A/C Button Stolen - Manual Turn On?

So this weekend, my car was broken into. They stole my sub amp but left my sub...Stole my iPod Cable but left my head unit and faceplate...I don't really care about any of that as much as the A/C button they took in the process of taking my dash apart.

Its supposed to be 90+ degrees and really humid the next couple days down here in Dallas, TX and was wondering if there was any way to kick on the compressor manually. I went to the stealership and they were going to charge me over 30 bucks for a new one, and they had to order it, so I ordered one off eBay for 10, but it won't be here for a few days and I don't want to get to work drenched in sweat.

Thieves fawkin suck! You could have possibly bought the very same button that was stolen! JK! But some people do go around stealing emblems and such off of cars, only to sell them on E-bay........easy way to make drug money! I say KARMA is a Biatch....so hopefully someday...they'll get what they deserve!

is it only 2 wires well ones prob for the light but could u just put in a simple jumper wire for now ?

Stealing buttons, must be junkies - did you look under the seats? They might have just pulled them off and chucked them, maybe right outside the truck?

The thieves around my town are tough, they steal a car and only leave the 4 wheels!

It happened at the Texas Land and Cattle during a rehearsal dinner. The one on 75 and spring valley. Unbelievable that it happened behind a nice steakhouse.

Yeah I looked back down into the socket and there's 5 (!) prongs so I don't know which ones to connect to kick it on, if someone knows which two are the actual switch, that'd be awesome.

And I looked everywhere for it. He took it just to be a douche I guess.

The compressor should have only one wire running to it. Applying 12V+ will kick the clutch in thus turning on your AC. This does bypass all the saftey measures like the low freon cut off switch but will make it work until you hit a scrap yard. So a fused toggle switch in the dash should do the trick.

I think when you use the defrost, your A/C is on automatically. Just use the defroster and open your vents facing you.
At least its something.

You were lucky. Something stopped them as they were a few screws short of taking your head unit. I would try the defrost idea and if that doesnt work just wait until the new one arrives.

Went up to my car at work, started it and rolled down my window so I could hear, pushed it over to defrost and *click* compressor turns on. Cold air coming out of the side vents.
