a/c not working

today was a hot one and i turned on my ac and there is no cold air coming out of it at all..anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? i was thinking i might have to recharge it and if i do what should i buy? the truck only has 56,000 so i hope nothing to serious is wrong

There could be number of things including low refrigerant, drive belt, magnetic clutch, compressor, pressure switch, thermistor, etc..

Can you describe other symptoms?

i just hit the a/c button turn it all the way to cold and warm air comes out....

well, ac maintenance require special tools and know how.
There are diagnostic procedures in the factory service manual if you're familiar with ac system and components otherwise, your best bet is to spend the money and get it fixed right. That's what I do since I can't stand driving without air! Good luck.
