A/C on-board air conversion

I had a bit of a newb question. My 90 V6 runner does not have A/C, but I wanted to add it, but use it for OBA. I'm thinking I'll just go to a yard and get the A/C compressor and all other required bits, then get the fittings and what not from a hardware store. Anyone ever do this, that could maybe give me some guidance?

Thanks in advance!

Absolutely. A buddy did it to his non-AC p/u. Works great.
If my AC didn't work so good I'd convert mine.

You'll need an air filter and an oiler on the input to the comp and a filter on the output to get the oil out. The oiler is needed because the AC comp doesn't have a resevoir, it uses oil in the freon to keep it lubed.
