A/C over pressured?

A/C was fine a week ago blowing ice cold. Last weekend on our way to Bowman it was blowing hot. Compressor was cycling rapidly. I thought it was low on freon. Got a can and put the whole thing in and the needle was still in green during the start of the fill and the end. I think it was bleeding off while I was driving. I could smell something but couldn't quite put my nose on it so I blamed the smell on the brakes of the car in front of me as they were riding them for miles.

Still blowing warm air and compressor is still cycling rapidly. On for a second and off for a few. So I jump the low side pressure switch and.........

:doh:Woops: Just went to double check which side that switch was on and it's HIGH side. I feel dumb. Too tired to be messing with this $hit! When I jumped the high side pressure switch, the pressure relief valve blew due to the compressor not shutting off in time. Plugged the pressure switch back up and it still cycled rapidly but a little slower. Hooked up my lil trigger filler thingy on the low side and bled some off. Seems like it's working fine again.

Hope this keeps someone else from making the same mistake.

Failure/success and my A/C works again. Didn't break anything. Not a bad night.

Is there a low side pressure switch? I followed the line in the engine compartment and could not locate one.
