A/C Rebuild for R134

After a year of owning a 1992 4wd beater that my son bought as a camping vehicle, I finally addressed the A/C problems. The junky car lot from where we bought the truck had installed a makeshift R134 adapter so they could legally sell the vehicle by claiming the vehicle was updated, but after a day of ownership the A/C quit working. After $1800, here is what we needed to replace/fix to repair the A/C:
1. Denso compressor (leaking) and condenser (clogged after not doing the R134 update properly).
2. Replace Receiver/Drier (also clogged).
3. Replace fan clutch.
4. Since radiator needed to be remove, clean and pressure test.
5. Power steering belt.
6. Replace all valve attachments for R134.
7. All associated labor.

Good news is that the A/C is freezing cold!

After $800 to do a clutch/gear linkage rebuild, new 10.5X31 tires, fixing rear gate window problem (new key tumbler and replacing wiring harness for rear gate window), I hope to get another 2 years of use from this 4Runner.

The dealer would have been $3000+��. When I had the rear gate window problem the dealer refused to deal with it and referred me to an independent repair shop that did fix it. Problem with 1st and 2nd gen is that mechanics shy away as they don't have computers and they are archaic in technology�� Also I would not have been able to install the parts and do the freon system flush that only professionals do.
