A/C works intermittently

I have a 98 runner with 142,xxx miles on it. The A/C blows cold for about 30 minutes, then I notice the compressor cycling over and over. I charged the compressor but that didn't seem to do the trick. When in park or on short trips, the air seems to work fine. If it is extremely hot outside and it has been sitting in the sun, it doesn't blow cold at all.

Any ideas?

Could be a faulty pressure switch. This will be located on one of the metal AC lines. Can't tell you where exactly, as I have never looked for mine.

Should be Right Rear of engine compartment.

I think it has a blue and white wire going to it and possibly an orange wire. Sorry no pics.
