A couple of problems: What the heck is this?

Is this the fuel pump? The one with the 5 hard/fuel lines coming out? When I turn the key to ON the fan/electric spins unusually loud. Especially lately, that's how I noticed it and also the runner has been hard to start. It will but it's like it's not getting the fuel/spark so it starts then dies back down, or will sputter a couple of times.

Thanks in advance. I also have another question but will do one at a time. This one first.

Those aren't fuel lines, they are brake lines. It's part of your ABS system.

The fuel pump is in the gas tank.
 
So why is it making such a loud noise? The fan inside or whatever winds up and then dies down while the electric is on. Any idea why I'd be missing on start up? MAF? Starter? Fuel pump? Or is it just kinda a hit or miss on that issue?
 
No it's not.

This forum site is still as useless as it's always been. I bet I'd have a ****load of replies if I had pictures of my new lift though. I'll just take it to a mechanic as usual.

Well, you gave it a whole hour and a half before coming to this conclusion. And then you basically set it up to where no one is going to want to help you. Nice work.

You are probably better off taking it in if your expect complete strangers to diagnose your no start problems based on a simple post with almost no effort on your part.

And with something as vague as this, I would suggest filling up the gas tank??

im pretty sure that is your muffler, the only way to tell for sure is to start your 4r and put your tongue on the part you are worried about. if it tastes like strawberries it's not your muffler.

It's pretty clear to me why you think this forum is always useless--since you found several perfectly appropriate posts to be unhelpful. I personally will never waste a second of my time trying to help you.
 
I'm still willing to help if you will help me help you diagnose it... otherwise I can agree with the other posts.

why are you caught up on this device?
 
What a douche! Does he really expect some people to know exactly what's wrong with his truck just by saying its having trouble starting. And he completely ignores the one question that we did answer.

God I hope he pays some mechanic $800+ to check his plugs and clean the maf. God what a prick.

Alrighty then.

FWIW, I was an ASE Certified Master Tech, 20+ years ago. There are many other people on here that are capable of helping as well.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't spend every waking moment on here, so it might take a little while to have a given question answered.

Actually I do have better things to do... go support your local mechanic. I wonder how many of us mechanics you actually just screwed yourself out of to help answer your questions.
