So, After seeing the Fabtech 6" lifts on the new Tundras I was pretty impressed

I wanted to see if they had anything for the 3rd Gen 4runners...

sure enough,

but yes, they have a system, I found it cheapest here

I was hoping to find a 6" system, but no cigar, anyone know of any?? I know some 4runners have to have higher than the 3" suspension and 2" body lift...

he says its a "Chevy 63" Rear Spring Swap." with some rancho shocks... and it looks like with the solid axle swap he went to some leaf springs in the rear...

I think his 4runner has a 6" lift but might be a bit higher... the only way u can get 6" lift wihtout the BL is if u do wat he did and scrap ur axles and go with an SAS. quite common, just look it up but its realy pricey and requires lots of modifications to work.

wouldnt I love to do that!! I have been following 80Yota4x4 and his SAS, seen a few and love them ALL!!!

I have been seriously considering a BL, maybe just 1"... but that would put me about 41" from ground to fender with my 33's

the other thought is to sell my 7 wrap LC coils, get 8 wrap or 9 wrap and then adjust my front coilovers up a bit...

its still no SAS though!!
 
lol ya i gotcha... i went with the OME lift and i plan on gettin a 2-3" body lift so that i can run 35s. But ya its still no SAS but thats just crazy and i dont have any welding skills yet. haha
 
kinda off topic but im jealus of ur sunroof... id love to install one but being a college student i cant afford the $1500 price tag.
 
the front suspension on the 95-04 tacoma is the same as the 3rd gen 4runner. fabtech has the 6" drop bracket lift that will work on the 4runner but you have to find a lift for the rear too since the tacoma uses leafs instead of coils. i'm pretty sure FLEXinc has that front drop bracket lift with OME 851's in the rear.

you had to go tell me that huh!! :lookout: I see another couple grand disappearing in the next couple years!!

If the Fabtech works for the front and all I have to do is lift the back higher, I could just get some longer shocks for the rear and some 9 wrap LC coils! that should do it!
 
wow i did not know u could do that... from wat ive read on here and YT i thought it was only possible to go a max of 3". Crazy stuff

Ya i wish my sport ed. 4runner came with a sunroof... I really cant complain bc i got the runner from my parents when i turned 16 but im always so jealous bc its nice to have'em.

You can do a max of 3 inches. On these still IFS 6" lifts they have a huge front drop bracket for the front total different than a OME, etc lifts.

you can do a max of 3" with just coils in the front. if you lower the front cross member (drop bracket), you can do more. however, a drop bracket is kinda like body lift because the cross member stays at the same height while the rest of the truck goes up where with just a coil lift, everything goes up.

Most people stick with the 3" suspension and 2" body lift cuz if you go any higher than that you have to start extending other stuff supposedly...

I guess Flexinc is the guy to ask if he has one...
 
AFAIK, the drop bracket lifts aren't sold "front only" for 4runners, so you would have to buy the whole lift and try to sell just the rear parts off. It might be tough to find someone with a taco that just wants the rear part of the kit.

My $.02... 6" drop bracket lifts are way too expensive for what you get PERFORMANCE wise IMO - you'll actually get a little less ground clearance in the front than the 3"sus/2"BL. And, sitting 1" higher overall just to look cool just raises your COG and makes it easier to roll your truck on or off road. I think if you're just wanting to run 35s, the 3"sus/2"BL is the way to go - unless you save up and do a SAS.
