hi, im new to the sight, just bought my first 4runner last week, and i love it already. :) its a 95 v6 auto 4x4. i just have a few questions about some of the buttons in the interior.

first are the buttons on the steering wheel. the up/down button on the left is for cruise control i assume since the cruise control light comes on when i push either button. but whats the difference between the buttons? do they both just activate the cruise control?

on the right side of the steering wheel are 3 more buttons. 1 is an up/down button - is that meant for the factory radio control? i have an aftermarket stereo, so when i push the button nothing happens, so i wasnt really sure. then there is a single round button - whats that for?

then theres a green lighted button below the shifter. whats that?

lastly there are 2 rectangular holes to the left of the steering wheel. 1 has a red bulb in it. im just wondering what the empty hole should house, and what the red bulb is.

any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks! :)

Ok well the buttons you have on your steering wheel are all for the cruise control. Unfortunately these 4runners are not equipped with audio control. The left top control is to turn the cruise control on. The bottom part of the control is to set the speed I think. Its dark outside and I can't remember exactly. The single button on the right side is the cancel button. The other button is to increase and decrease the speed when the cruise control is set. I'll check in the morning to make sure everything is correct.

The button below the shifters is the ECT button. You turn it on when you want some more power. It holds the gear longer before shifting so this is ideal for passing, hills, towing and a quicker start. It does lower your gas mileage though so use it wisely.

The rectangle with the red light is for a factory alarm. Most don't work, but you could have someone check it out and you would have to get a special alarm key from the dealership. The other rectangle is for nothing, at least on mine. Some people add switches there for fog lights or something, but I don't think there was a factory use for it.

I think that wraps it up. Nice buy and you should have fun with it. That is one clean looking 4runner.

thank you! :) i never would have figured 5 buttons for controlling cruise control. :) she has a bit of a checkered past, but when i saw her i fell in love.
