A great WTF from previous owner

1996 SR5.
I have a P0141 error for an o2 sensor (sensor 1 bank 2). It's the sensor just before the catalytic convertor. Well I crawled under my truck last night to change the sensor but the whole thing was welded to the pipe!!! So now I have to get that piece of exhaust changed (its like a 16" inch elbow piece of pipe with the sensor adaptor).
It's worst than a stripped screw....oh well!

Yeah sorry bro I got my wires crossed (literally). It's the rear one. I don't think the rear one is the same part either, but if you didn't install the O2 sensor you should be able to return it ok.

That sucks about the front sensor though. That means it's never coming out again.

I think it should be "Bank 1 Sensor 2" instead of the other way around. There's no Bank 2 with the common exhaust.

On a '96, you can use a front sensor in the rear as long as the wire is long enough. Prior to '99 Cali. models, the only difference is wire length.

And yes, p0141 is Bank 1, Sensor 2 (the rear sensor).

Yeah it's the length of the wire I'm worried about. For that reason the 3rd Gens have seemingly a dozen different part numbers for O2 sensors. Wonder why they didn't just make a longer harness in the first place and call it good...

You don't have to get that section of pipe cut out and replaced. Just leave the old sensor there and have the shop weld in a new bung somewhere nearby.
