I bought an OEM bug deflector today from my local stealer and the instructions tell you to clean part of the hood with 3M Prep Solvent -70. Never heard of it! Where can I get it or can I use something else instead? My son says just use rubbing alcohol but would that damage the clear coat? I want get the thing on 'cause I am going on vacation on Saturday down south where there are lots of bugs!
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

The Toyota bug deflector for my '02 4runner (3rd gen) had alcohol pads included in the package. So, i assume rubbing alcohol (in moderate amounts) is OK. If you're afraid, then just use plain old water and wipe the area clean & dry before applying on the rubber thingies.

Good luck...BTW, the Toyota instructions were really good for my '02 4runner bug deflector. Follow it to the last details for best fit.

yes,

rubbing alcohol will work or even Windex glass cleaner. You just want to make sure that the area is clean and free from car wax, thats all. apply either with a soft towel to not scratch the paint.
