A little trail ride'n

Here in FL we had some afternoon thunder showers (common this time of year) and the Sat TV lost link, so insted of sitting in front of the internet, I took the TR4 for a little trail ride in the rain.

There is a small lake about 5min from my house and a little trail that goes around one side of the lake. My 4runner is stock except for a full set of Bilstien HD shocks that I installed a few months ago. There isn't anything Extreme about the trail, just some roots and a few twists and turns threw the trees. Its just fun to get out of the house for a bit. I wish the trail was longer and a bit more challenging, maybe a steep hill to climb or something.

I took some pics and I'll upload them when the wifey gets back with the Runner (left the camera in the console).

Here is a small gully that I would love to be able to traverse but my rig is not quite ready. I have a freind with a rubicon, I'd like to see if he'd give it a shot.

This is another one, there is less brush in the way but it is much steeper.

That looks like it was a lot of fun. I want to find some of these type trails near where I live. These would be great for me becaue it would not require any mods or lifts and would still be fun.

Be sure to pull that trailer ball next time you go off roading.

That really ruins your departure angle. And will keep it from getting any damage.

Would be extra tough climbing those hills dragging it through the mud.

Yup, 96' with 210k miles.

Thanks for the heads up on the ball but I know the area and there is no need to worry about departure angle, it's pretty flat, except for the waddy.

and I'm not ready to get into anything like that just yet.

I talked to my buddy with the Ruby and he wants to check out the waddy tomorrow. I hope he goes for it. I want to continue the trail around the other side of the lake.

I would love to be the first to explore the other side but I am scared to damage my runner. I think his Jeep is a bit more capable.

I took my friend with the Ruby out to the wady today and he said there was no way he was going to attemp crossing it. I don't blame him, we had some heavy rain wich caused the sides to erode and make it even steeper.

I don't know anyone that can cross this thing. If any of you guys live near by and want to give it a shot, I'd be more than happy to take you out there.

Nice pictures. Sometimes a nice "trail ride" like that is all you need. Just getting out of the house and off the pavement is never a bad thing!

Just one thing though, it was hard to tell from the pics of the little gully, but it did not look like a marked trail or a vehicle track at all. Maybe some trail bikes use it? I dont know. I just wanted to caution you on attempting to drive of the trail where you could do damage to the area. If you ended up tearing up the place with spinning tires and were driving over shrubs and stuff, some people would get very pissed off and have that area shut down completely. Sorry if I sound like your mum, and I'm only assuming based on what I could see in those pics, but it's very wise to stick to the proper trails only and avoid the temptation to go real off-roading.

Good advice. The area is owned by the military and you need a special range pass to be out there, which I have.
