A little trick

If you would like to detail your door jams, engine compartment, battery, spare tire well and other hard to get at areas try Pledge Furniture Polish.

Use a cotton rag, like a fluffy towel. Spray it on and wipe if off before it dries.

Pledge does not leave any white streaks or ugly residue. It's great for cleaning anywhere in the engine compartment and keeps things looking like brand new, especially if you use it after a high pressure engine wash with soapy water.

It is so good on a battery and battery tray that you don't need any grease on the poles. It worked so well on a Die-Hard battery of mine that the mechanic put the old one back in and got stuck starting the car before he discovered the new battery still on the counter.

Will have to try that -- usually use a damp sponge in the door jambs to clear out the dirt and water.

Have you had any difficulty if the Pledge is accidentally sprayed on the exterior? Or is it OK if you wipe quickly? Just wondering that if it cleans dirt that well, does it possibly strip the wax/polish.

Don't use a damp cloth, and do not worry about the finish. It just cleans it and makes it look shiny. You might want to check to see if it removes any of your existing wax. I have never had any problems.

After you get done cleaning your whole engine compartment you will be pleased with the result. Future cleanups will be very easy.

The battery and surrounding area will stay shiny and bright. If the battery is really bad, you might want to remove it, clean it with soap and water and a brush, then the Pledge. Also clean the area before putting the battery back.

Has anyone tried the Pledge?

You need to watch your use of Pledge! It is made for wood finishes. I used to apply it to my TV while cleaning the furnature, and over time it actually broke down the plastic case around the TV and melted wherever I placed something on top of the TV. It made the plastic real soft. I had to throw the TV out eventually. My experience is that Pladge and Plastic do not mix!

Maybe the plastic in an engine compartment is different. Been using Pledge for a long time on lots of cars with no problems. It cleans plastic especially well and keeps grease from sticking.

The place it works best is on batterys, and stuff like master cylinders.

I use pledge to clean the inside of all the windows and it works well.
