A new 4th generation owner

Thought I'd introduce my in this section as well.

Just traded in my 2009 JK Wrangler Unlimited with 18,000 miles for a 2004 Limited Edition.

Went out looking for a 3rd generation 2001ish model, but couldn't find anything that wasn't beat up or sold while I was out shopping :). Didn't really want the Limited edition either but it looks like I still have some options to get rid of the running boards and plastic bumpers.

Plan is to build into an overland style vehicle, use it for camping and forest road travel.

Look forward to learning more.

Congrats on the T4R and much better looking than some 4 Door Jeep :)

I bought mine just a few days over a year ago and been enjoying it. Like you I also was looking for a 3rd Generation and had the same issues--either beat up, way too high of mileage to consider as a daily driver or already sold.
 
Here's a pic.

The lighted side steps need to go (rock rails), but the first order of business will be some new tires.

Unfortunately the tires will not last as long as it'll take for me to lift it right. I plan on adding a front winch bumper and while I'm still learning it looks like most people don't recommend doing that with the stock coils (otherwise I might consider a spacer lift).

I put a crappy lift on my Jeep for awhile and decided after that that if I'm going to mod a vehicle, I'll do it once and be done.

I initially wasn't a fan of the color, but it's growing on me.

I do know that it doesn't show the dirt nearly as bad as my last vehicle color (dark green).
 
congrats and welcome. I too am a recent owner of an 05 SE and couldnt be happier.

I agree, running boards need to go on mine as well. I also agree that the right lift is needed if you choose to do so. I was looking at spacer lift due to XREAS, but my tires have quite a bit of life left in them so I'll be doing lift and tires at the same time.
