a new interesting problem, havent heard before

This Runner is going to be the daily driver for my daughter. She is 4'10" about 95 lbs and isnt getting any taller. Problem is with the seat all the way forward the seat is hitting the 4wd shifter and engaging the 4wd. this has happened a couple times. not a real problem unless you are going down the interstate at 65. any ideas on a fix?

Is she using the AWD?

If not, pull the fuse, or unplug it.

thought about that, It would be an occasional thing for her to use it right now. she wants to set it up for camping though over the next couple years

Well moving the seat so far forward also places her closer to the airbag.

I would rather increase the distance between the pedals and her feet a bit to help with both problems. I think back to blocks added to pedals to help kids reach when they were too short.....Many good ways to attach...just think about it. Luck. :cowboy:

This is a very important point and an issue even for my 5'2" wife. Figuring out a way to be at least 12" from the wheel is pretty important for safety.

I am pretty surprised that the seat interferes with the 4WD shifter in any position though...

Rick, can you post a pic? My ex wife was 5' feet stretched, had the seat I think as far front as it could go, and never hit the 4wd shifter. Mine is a Limited though.

I did pull the airbag for her safety, but maybe in retrospect I shouldn't have......

Just move the button to the dash. Put on a standard Jay shift knob and use either a later model Center diff lock button to engage 4 wheel drive or you could get like a track switch off another Toyota. that's just what I do.
