Probably the best route is to find a wrecked later model 5th gen someplace in the US of A and see what the wrecker would want for the OEM head unit. Seems as if there is a little more to the puzzle than just the SD card. I would think what works in a US Spec vehicle would be plug and play in a Canadian vehicle, it should not know the difference and provide you exactly what you're after. The deck can't operate VIN specific they are just shipped per region and equipped accordingly but I think the SD card within it is also the key. It would have to come with the OEM SD card from the wrecker for sure, you couldn't put yours in it. Buffalo isn't a long drive - you might get lucky eventually :canada:

That's not a bad idea. I'll keep my eyes open for "affordable" unit should one pop up.
I suspect getting this to work will either involve using a US deck (as you've suggested) or driving down to the US (Niagara/Buffalo being closest to me) and either use an American HD radio station and/or switch my phone SIM to a US cell carrier. I first need to figure out how to load the apps though as I can't find the app in the Play Store anymore (unless it's blocked by Google based on my Canadian IP address)?
Was hoping to get some insight from the EnTunes experts here to see what they think.

I just updated the Entune in my 2012 4runner Limited using this post and it worked like a charm. Just remember to unzip the file and put it on a blank flash drive. No folders.

Have any of you driven across the border to the Great White North and can confirm if your entune and entune app suite still worked here? For those of you (us) with 2012-2013 4runners that are still needing to upgrade the software on the head unit... all of the download links in this thread are now dead. the toyota service page no longer allows you to pull for the 2012-2013 year.
However, this direct link it still alive. just remember to unzip the file and format a USB 2.0 stick to FAT32.
