A question for the 4runner masters

I recently buy a brand new 4runner Limited to my wife (just a week ago We received it) The SUV exceed my expectations, and I

FIRST THING, i would check the air pressure in the tires. Go by what the door jam says.

Do you have XREAS?? If so, then that may explain your bouncy ride. Not much that you can do about it unless you want to ditch XREAS.

Otherwise, you're stuck with it. Goodyear Fortera with SilentArmor may soften up the ride, BUT fuel economy will likely go down (due to increase weight and rolling resistance).

The tires seem to come at a really high pressure, which makes the truck feel bouncy. Mine came at close to 50 psi, yet the sticker on the door specifies 32 psi.

Normally, on my experience, Michelin tires has gave me the best results at Mexico highways...but maybe I can try this that you mencioned.

Michelins are good too. If you don't take it off-road, then i would get Cross Terrains...or maybe LTX M/S.

i would just read on the rim of the tire what its max psi is then take about 10-15 psi off and keep it at that. i have the bfg at ko's there rated at max 60 psi i keep them at 48-50 if im hauling a trailer i put it up to 55-60psi. sand i drop it down to about 30-35psi

Welcome Vic,

Most likely the air pressure is too high. The Michelin tires on the 4Runner are excellent. In time you will find that the 4Runner is a extremely stable vehicle especially with all the electronic help. It will take a little time to adjust to its workings . You will also find that the 4Runner has incredible traction especially in poor weather and off-road. Again, welcome to the 4Runner Family.

If you have stock tires, then use the door jam as a guide to what psi to use. I would not overinflate or underinflate.

Thank you to everybody..as soon as I arrived home yesterday, I checked the pressure...it was between 55-60 psi, which is too high according to the door info (it supposed to be 29 psi.

The 4Runner has a low tire pressure warning system that has sensors in each wheel that triggers a warning light (Idiot light) on the dash.

There once was a time that cars and trucks used gauges to show you what was going on -- temperature, oil pressure, etc. Over time, many of the gauges were replaced by lights. The lights are called "idiot lights" because they were meant for people too stupid to understand a gauge.

my 4runner had 32 psi in all four tires and was riding just fine. i tried to squeeze in a few more mpg by increasing the amount of air in my tires to 40 psi all around. while it did increase my gas mileage, by just a bit, it also caused my ride to get a lot more bumpy. i felt more of the bumps on the road during city driving, and there was much more bouncing while on the highway. my suggestion is to go by what the door says and keep your tires inflated at 32 psi.
